The no-fuss hydroseeder anyone can use. The SeedMaster 2000 makes work easier by making sure civil contractors, landscapers, and hydroseeders can finish the job without having to call in the bigger machines. This one will shoot, spray and get the job done, requiring no prior training or experience.
The SeedMaster 2000 is a 2000L trailer hydroseeder built for NZ contractors and landscapers applying cellulose mulch who want a reliable, low-maintenance yet highly capable machine behind a ute. With jet agitation, fewer moving parts and direct access to potential blockage points, it’s designed to keep crews spraying and minimise downtime.
Every part of the SeedMaster 2000 is laid out so the operator can reach it. There are no closed components or hidden joints. Every potential blockage point is accessible without specialist tools, so a crew member can clear a blockage in minutes and get back to spraying. For contractors running hydroseeding as a billed line item, any downtime or holdups matter.
The SeedMaster 2000 is purpose built for cellulose mulch, which is why it uses jet agitation rather than paddle agitation. Jet agitation has fewer moving parts to wear, jam or service, which keeps the total cost of ownership lower across the life of the machine. It also means the SeedMaster 2000 is quick to clean down at the end of a job, so crews are not finishing a long shift with another long clean. Common applications include erosion control on banks and slopes, lawn establishment on new subdivisions, seeding council reserves and parks, and lawn repair work for landscapers.
The SeedMaster 2000 is mounted on its own purpose built trailer with heavy duty axles, rated to 3,500 kg, so it can be towed behind any 3,500 kg capable work ute. The elevated working platform makes loading mulch faster and gives the operator a higher vantage point to direct the spray across slopes and longer distances, which is useful when working banks, batters and large open areas.
A 25m washdown hose and washdown nozzle are included as standard, so the SeedMaster 2000 doubles as a clean down rig for trucks, machinery and site clean ups when it is not being used for hydroseeding. It also includes a dust suppression system with an adjustable spray angle, a feature no other hydroseeder has built in. Talk to our team about your typical job mix and we will tell you straight whether the SeedMaster 2000 fits your operation.
Features & Benefits
Towable behind regular utes, it’s small enough to fit where you need it and it’ll get to places the big machines can’t.

Hydroseeding new lawns and turf areas, erosion control on banks and batters, slope stabilisation on cuttings and embankments, lawn repair work, seeding council reserves and parks, and seeding new subdivisions. The 2000L tank covers 400 to 500 sqm per load, and a 25m washdown hose lets the same trailer double as a clean down rig for trucks, machinery and site clean ups when not seeding.
Jet agitation uses recirculated slurry pumped through nozzles to mix the tank, with no moving parts inside the tank itself. Paddle agitation uses a mechanical paddle driven by a shaft and gearbox. Jet systems have fewer wear parts, are quicker to clean, and are typically lower maintenance, which suits paper based cellulose mulch. Paddle systems handle thicker, heavier slurries (such as wood fibre at high concentrations) but cost more to own and service. The SeedMaster 2000 uses jet agitation specifically because it is designed for paper based mulch.
Coverage per tank is 400 to 500 sqm with a typical paper based cellulose mulch slurry. Actual coverage depends on application rate, slurry mix, mulch type, and surface conditions. For larger sites, plan multiple tank refills across the day. The 1,400 L per minute pump flow keeps spray throw strong even on slopes and in longer throw situations.
Any vehicle with a minimum 3,500 kg towing capacity and a 1-7/8 inch tow ball. A Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D Max or similar work ute will tow it comfortably when properly braked. Tare weight is 1,180 kg and the trailer is rated to 3,500 kg, so most NZ work utes are compatible. Always confirm your specific vehicle and tow bar rating before towing.
Yes. Hydroseeding is one of the most cost effective methods of erosion control on banks, batters, road cuttings and slope stabilisation work in NZ. The slurry of seed, mulch and binder forms a protective layer that holds soil in place while the seed germinates, with much faster establishment than dry seeding alone. The SeedMaster 2000's elevated working platform helps the operator direct spray accurately across larger or steeper areas.
