Probably the most capable machinery transport trailer in its class. The TrailMaster 3500 makes moving equipment easy by combining smart design, heavy‑duty construction, and a class‑leading 3500kg towing capacity into one compact, dependable trailer. Built to safely haul excavators, rollers, and compact construction machinery, it reduces handling stress, improves safety, and keeps worksites moving efficiently. It’s the trailer you rely on when machines need to be moved; quickly, safely, and every single day.
The TrailMaster 3500 is a 3500 kg-rated tandem axle plant trailer built for NZ contractors, hire companies and machinery operators who need to transport excavators, rollers, skid steers and compact machinery between sites every day. With a fully galvanised heavy-duty chassis, 4-wheel European braking and a balanced towing layout, it is built for the rough and tumble of daily contracting use rather than occasional weekend hauling.
Most plant trailers in this rating tend to suffer in one of three areas: deck length is too short, ramp angle is too steep for low ground clearance machinery, or the trailer tows nervously, empty and unpredictably loaded. The TrailMaster 3500 was designed specifically to fix those three issues, with a 3.84m x 1.47m internal deck, long galvanised loading ramps with a gentle approach angle, and a balanced layout that keeps drawbar weight predictable across full and empty states.
The fully galvanised chassis and drawbar are built for daily contracting use, not occasional hauls. The 3,500 kg towing capacity is matched by a tandem axle layout, both axles rated to 3,500 kg, which spreads load across four braked wheels. That keeps the stopping distance predictable when loaded with an excavator, roller or skid steer, and avoids the snaking and weight transfer that some single axle plant trailers can exhibit at speed.
The integrated front bucket cage holds buckets and attachments separately from the main deck, so the operator does not have to load attachments alongside the machine. When deck length is the priority, for example, carrying a longer roller or a machine with a fixed boom, the cage can be repositioned to free up usable deck space. That single adjustment adds a level of configurability to a fixed deck trailer, without buying a different unit.
Long galvanised loading ramps with a gentle approach angle make loading safer for low ground clearance machinery, particularly steel drum rollers and tracked excavators, where a steep ramp angle risks tipping or grounding. Once loaded, the European mechanical braking system applies braking force across all four wheels, not just one axle. That delivers controlled stopping with no electric brake controller required, so the trailer can be towed by any properly rated work ute without modification.
The deck uses heavy duty timber slat runners chosen specifically because timber keeps tare weight low (770 kg) while remaining strong over thousands of loads. The slatted design lets dirt, mud and debris fall through rather than building up, so the deck is faster to clean down before heading back on the road and traction stays consistent under machinery tracks and tyres. A plywood deck is available as an option for operators who prefer a solid surface, and additional planks can be added to match specific machines.
Six integrated tie down points, mudguards with built in steps and lights, and a compact overall width that stays within the profile of most NZ work utes round out a trailer designed to be lived with daily, not just occasionally. The TrailMaster 3500 is not the cheapest plant trailer in NZ and it is not trying to be. It’s built for contractors who need predictable towing, practical load handling, and a setup that still works 10 years from now. Features & Benefits
Built for long‑term durability and corrosion resistance, standing up to tough worksites and harsh conditions year after year.

The TrailMaster 3500 has a 3,500 kg gross trailer rating and a tare weight of 770 kg, giving a payload capacity of 2,730 kg. That covers most 1.5 to 2.7 tonne excavators, single drum rollers up to about 2.5 tonne, smaller skid steers, compact dumpers, and most compact construction machinery. The internal deck is 3.84m x 1.47m and overall length is 5.8m, so check the machine's track or wheel base against deck dimensions before purchase. Always check your specific machine weight including buckets and attachments.
Any vehicle with a minimum 3,500 kg towing capacity and a 1-7/8 inch tow ball. A Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D Max, Nissan Navara or similar 3.5 tonne rated work ute will tow it. The European mechanical braking system applies all 4 wheels and does not require an electric brake controller, so the trailer is compatible with any properly rated tow vehicle without modification. Always confirm your specific vehicle and tow bar rating before towing, particularly when loaded.
A tandem axle trailer has two axles spaced close together, both braked, and shares the load and braking force across four wheels rather than two. That delivers more stable towing at speed, more predictable braking when loaded, and better tyre and wheel bearing life across the trailer's lifetime. Single axle plant trailers are cheaper and lighter but can snake at speed when loaded and put more wear on a single set of bearings and tyres. The TrailMaster 3500 is a tandem axle for the higher rated load capacity and stability under load.
Plant trailers spend their lives in mud, water, salt and chemical wash down. Hot dip galvanising is the most durable corrosion protection available and is standard on all premium NZ plant trailers. A painted chassis will start showing rust within 2 to 3 years on a working trailer, particularly around the chassis welds and mudguards, while a galvanised chassis stays structurally sound for 10 years or more. The TrailMaster 3500 chassis and drawbar are fully galvanised for that reason.
Yes. The TrailMaster 3500 has an integrated front bucket cage that holds buckets and attachments separately from the main deck, so the machine does not have to be loaded with its attachments still fitted. The cage can also be repositioned along the deck if a longer machine needs the full deck length, giving the operator the flexibility to carry either configuration without buying a second trailer.
