The SiteMaster 2000 is a multi-function NZ site trailer that combines a 2000L water tank, a 5kVA petrol generator and a 5.5m LED lighting tower into a single towable unit. It came out of conversations with AquaMaster users who were running three separate pieces of kit on the same job site (a water cart, a generator and a lighting tower) and wanted to consolidate the lot onto one trailer. So we built it.
The integrated 5.5m winch driven lighting tower is fitted with four LED lights that produce 68,000 lumens combined, with 360 degree rotation so the operator can aim light exactly where the crew is working. That removes the need for a separate lighting tower on site and gives night works crews a single unit they can set up in minutes. The tower replaces what would otherwise be a hired or owned standalone lighting tower.
The 5kVA generator powers the lighting tower and is sized to also run site tools through two 240V outlets. That covers most concrete breakers, small welders, grinders and pumps a typical crew uses on site, plus the inevitable pie warmer or kettle that keeps morale up on a long night shift. One trailer, three jobs, no extra plant on the site card.
We originally thought the SiteMaster 2000 would split into two clear modes: water during the day, lighting and power at night. In practice, NZ night works crews use water and lighting at the same time, particularly when stabilising road millings with cement and water on overnight road maintenance shifts. The trailer adapts to the job rather than locking the crew into one mode.
The SiteMaster 2000 also performs in emergency response work. After a storm, slip or flood event, recovery crews working overnight need water for clean down, power for tools and lighting for safe working, all of which the SiteMaster 2000 carries on a single trailer that can be towed to site immediately. Cyclone and storm recovery work in NZ has been a real world test of this configuration.
The combination of water, power and lighting in one trailer might look unusual at first glance, but it reflects how NZ crews actually work, particularly on night shifts, in remote locations and during recovery operations.
